About this product

People don't struggle to find events; they struggle to find events worth going to. Ticketing sites list thousands of concerts, classes, expos and parties, but everyone sees the same generic feed, and most of it is irrelevant. The weekend plan gets made too late, the workshop that would have mattered for someone's career goes unnoticed, and the expo happens across town without them.

Eventsscan is a personalized event discovery app. Users sign in with Google and tell the app their personality, interests and field of work. From then on, every search is ranked for them, and subscribers get push notifications for matching events before they even open the app. Saved events sync to Google Calendar with reminders. Organizers and promoters can buy location-targeted in-app ads to reach people near their event.

The listing covers the Android app, the web app and the admin panel, with two revenue streams already built in: user subscriptions and paid event ads.

Payments run through Paystack.

Who it is for

  • Founders launching a city events guide, or an alternative to Eventbrite, Meetup or Fever, focused on discovery and personalization rather than ticketing
  • Event promoters and media companies that want their own discovery channel and ad inventory
  • Tourism boards and city apps that want to show residents and visitors what's on
  • Coworking spaces, universities and professional associations promoting workshops, classes and networking events
  • Agencies that want a white-label event app for clients

It serves everyone from people looking for weekend fun to professionals looking for expos, workshops and skill classes.

How it works

  1. The user signs in with Google and fills in personality, interests and field of work.
  2. They search with a quick preset, a keyword or a location, and results are ranked for them.
  3. They like, share or save events; saved events go to Google Calendar with reminders.
  4. Subscribers get personalized event push notifications automatically.
  5. Organizers buy ads that reach users near their event, and the admin loads events manually or via APIs.

Frequently asked questions

What is Eventsscan? +
Eventsscan is a personalized event discovery app for Android and web. Users sign in with Google, set their personality, interests and field of work, and get events ranked for them: concerts, parties, classes, expos and workshops. Subscribers also receive matching events as push notifications.
How does the event personalization work? +
Each profile stores a personality type (introvert, ambivert or extrovert), up to 28 interest tags and 24 fields of work. Search results and push notifications are matched against that profile, and like/dislike feedback on event cards adds another signal.
How does an event discovery app like this make money? +
Eventsscan has two built-in revenue streams: weekly and monthly user subscriptions, which unlock more listings and personalized push notifications, and paid in-app ads that event organizers post for a preset fee and that are pushed to users near the event. Payments run through Paystack.
Where do the events come from? +
The admin panel loads events by manual entry or automatically from external event-data APIs, so the catalogue can combine curated local events with large event feeds.
Is Eventsscan an alternative to Eventbrite or Meetup? +
It covers a different part of the market. Eventbrite and Meetup centre on ticketing and groups, while Eventsscan focuses on personalized discovery: it matches events from many sources to each user's interests and career, pushes them proactively, and lets organizers advertise to people nearby.
Which languages and platforms are supported? +
The app supports English, French, Spanish, German, Chinese and Arabic. The package includes an Android app (React Native), a web app (React) and an admin panel, with a PostgreSQL and Firebase backend.
